Installing Melvin / Melvin demo

System requirements

  • Melvin is designed to run on Windows PC computers only
  • Melvin will run on all the Windows operating systems since Windows 2000

Minimum hardware specifications

  • Pentium IV or equivalent
  • 512 Mb RAM
  • At least 300 Mb free disk space for system and topic files

Notes on using the program

Melvin is a processor and memory intensive program. It is recommended that you close other programs you are not using when running Melvin. It is also recommended that you end as many background services as you can when running Melvin. These include such items as the Microsoft Word quick start bar. Please do not switch off any virus scanning software if your computer is attached to a network or to the internet.

Installation steps

Acquire the Melvin software program

Start the installer executable

  • The purchased licence installer is called Setup.exe
  • Download: Extract the MelvinTrial.1.ZIP file. The installer is called Setup.exe
  • Demo disk: The installer is in the Melvin_Demo folder and is called SetupMelvinDemo.exe
  • Double click the installer file - you may have to OK the installation if Windows shows warning dialogues

Follow the on-screen instructions to install

Exact installation steps vary depending on the version.

Click the install button to commence installation. Clicking Cancel at any time will cancel the installation with no changes made to your computer. For network installation of licenced Melvin, see the instructions that accompany the program.
